Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the Theft Awareness.
Where do I go to sign up and take the Theft Awareness Class?
You can register and begin your course immediately by clicking the 'Start Now' button on this page.
Are there any tests I will need to take?
No. You will not need to pass a test. After each module you answer a few short review questions in your own words.
How long is the Theft Awareness Class?
You are required to spend a minimum of 4 to 16 hours reviewing the material depending on which option you select. Common durations are 4, 8, 12, and 16 hours. You do not need to accrue that time in one sitting.
What topics are covered in the Theft Awareness Class?
The curriculum covers what counts as theft and shoplifting, the legal and personal consequences, why people steal, thinking errors and rationalizations, triggers and urges, empathy for the people affected, accountability and restitution, budgeting and meeting needs legally, stress and healthy coping, peer pressure, decision-making, and building a personal theft prevention plan.
Is this an anti-theft class?
Many courts and probation departments call this requirement an anti-theft class. Our Theft Awareness Class covers what anti-theft classes address: the consequences of theft, the thinking errors behind it, triggers and urges, accountability, and a personal prevention plan. Confirm with your court, probation officer, or attorney that it meets your requirement before you enroll.
Can I take a court-ordered shoplifting class online?
Our Theft Awareness Class is a self-paced online class that covers the topics court-ordered shoplifting, petty theft, and retail theft classes address. Whether an online class meets your requirement is up to your court, probation officer, or program, so confirm before you enroll.
Can I take this class for a theft diversion program?
Many diversion programs ask participants to complete a theft or shoplifting class. Ask your program coordinator whether an online, self-paced class meets the requirement before you enroll.
When will I receive my certificate of completion?
Certificates are instantly available for download the moment you complete the class. We will also immediately email a copy.
What if my course or certificate is rejected?
Acceptance is determined by the receiving authority. Before enrollment, confirm the specific course and required hours with your probation officer, attorney, or assigning authority. If our course or certificate is rejected, we will refund your payment in full with written proof of rejection. Contact RestoreU Learning for help and review our Terms of Service for certificate acceptance and refund terms.
